"Usury Fighter’s Manual" just published!

Christians! Do you believe the Bible when it says the love of money is the root of all evil?
Do you know that usury is the engine of the love of money?
This new “usury fighter’s manual” can help defeat the Money Power in accordance with God’s law:

History of Money and Usury in America: A Usury Fighters Manual
By Daniel Krynicki

This is a digital Kindle book. It is not a printed work.

Read a free preview here:

Daniel Krynicki is a masterful researcher into financial chicanery and an activist for money reform and social justice. He is a self-trained economist and a pipefitter with more than thirty-five years in the trade. He retired from Detroit Edison Company with 25 years’ seniority. Upon retirement, Local 223 of the Utility Union Workers of America conferred upon him a lifetime membership.

Krynicki is a student of the writing of attorney Howard B. Rand (1889-1991). Mr. Rand employed his background as a legal scholar (LL.B, University of Maine), in his analysis of Scripture. Among his more than twenty-five books and pamphlets, Rand’s classic work, Digest of the Divine Law (1943), had a significant impact on Krynicki’s formation. In 2013, Mr. Krynicki encountered Michael Hoffman’s study, Usury in Christendom: The Mortal Sin that Was and Now is Not. Mr. Krynicki’s History of Money and Usury in America expands on Rand and Hoffman.

The contemporary movement to abolish the Federal Reserve Bank and institute honest money has been a failure because the leading advocates are either usury-proponents or, if they claim to oppose usury, are unwilling to work for its complete abolition. Daniel Krynicki has gone another way, faithful to the Word of God — which never intended for us to be burdened with either decades of personal debt, or for our nations to be ruled by a financial power which derives its dominion from the renting of money. Krynicki demonstrates that there is no substitute to ending usury: there is no other means for defeating the stranglehold which the Money Power exerts over the West.

Think you know this subject from A to Z? Daniel’s research will surprise you. He is neither Right wing nor Left wing. The facts he unearths are both enlightening and liberating, on the path to national renewal through the enactment of real Biblical economics, not the counterfeits pushed by Ron Paul or Congressman Dave Brat (though the latter two may be well-intentioned and err only through ignorance). Yet they are inspired by the Christ-hating Ludwig Von Mises, a fact that must be faced.

Daniel Krynicki operates the "Christians Against Usury" study group on Facebook:
This digital book of 189 pages is affordably priced so almost anyone can access its truths and begin to successfully combat the Money Power:

The people we are to fear

The people we are to fear
according to St. Bernadette of Lourdes

By Michael Hoffman

A  Catholic saint had something instructive to impart about those whom we are to fear.

St. Bernadette of Lourdes was a nun in the convent of the Sisters of Charity in Nevers, France in the year 1870. She was interviewed while furious combat was underway in the north of the country, as the seemingly invincible Prussian army advanced on Paris.

From the book La Salette, Lourdes, Pontmain: Voyage d'un croyant by Edmond Lafond [Paris: Bray et Retaux Libraires-Éditeurs, 1872, p. 238], published while she was still alive, comes the following account.

A visitor spoke to Bernadette in the convent and asked her:

Did you receive, in the grotto of Lourdes, or after then, any revelations related to the future and fate of France? Did not the Blessed Virgin deliver any warning for France, any threats?”

Bernadette: “No.”

Visitor: “The Prussians are at our gates; does that not cause you any fear?

Bernadette: “No.”

Visitor: “There is thus nothing to fear?

Bernadette:  I only fear bad Catholics.

Visitor: “You do not fear anything else?”

Bernadette:  “No, nothing else."

(End quote)

The most dangerous enemies of the Church of Jesus Christ are not rabbis or Moslems. They are "bad Catholics” who, with their situation ethics, enable the ruinous dictatorship of the Money Power by allowing the mortal sin of renting money to dominate the nation’s economy, while rendering it a legitimate, moral business model for Catholics (and everyone else).

The most dangerous enemies of the Church of Jesus Christ are the “bad Catholic” popes of the past five hundred years who approved (or kept silent) concerning the Hermetic-Kabbalism of Pico della Mirandola, whose Satanic doctrine, spread by himself and his “bad Catholic" papal and ecclesiastical co-conspirators, crept inside the hierarchy and took up residence there, never to be expelled, rotting the Vatican from the top down, beginning on June 18, 1493, with the papal absolution of Pico, and finally emerging, in the full glare of publicity, at the Second Vatican Council, as its papal herald, Cardinal Henri de Lubac, openly acknowledged.

The most dangerous enemies of the Church of Jesus Christ enacted the masonic doctrine of papal infallibility, instigated by the "bad Catholic" Joseph de Maistre (yes, masonic, a datum not difficult to prove; shock at this fact is a comment on the astonishingly poor state of the history of the Church as presented to dupes by "bad Catholic” authors).

These are just a few of the documented facts which are profoundly destabilizing to true believers in the mythical orthodoxy of the "bad Catholics" at the top of the Egyptian obelisk, i.e. the post-Renaissance, pre-Vatican Council II pontiffs (as well as their post-conciliar successors).

Having no credible counter to these and other revisionist facts, the true believer (cf. the eponymous book by Eric Hoffer), continues to cling to a fantasy Catholicism, while attempting to nullify revisionist history with the corrupt tactic of the liberal media: the infamous "silent treatment."

Bad Catholics will do that. It is part of what makes them the people most to be feared. Corruptio optimi est pessima.

Republican Idol Worshippers and their Criminal Politics

Conservative Republican Idol Worshippers and their Criminal Politics

By Michael Hoffman
www.revisionisthistory.org

"Fatto v'avete dio d'oro e d'argento;
e che altro e da voi a l'idolatre,
se non ch'elli uno, e voi ne orate cento?"

("You have made gold and silver your god; and
what difference is there between you and the idol-
worshipper, except that he prays to one, and you to a hundred?")

--Dante, The Inferno

Christians in Idaho have been recommending in their churches that, in the wake of Obama's re-election victory, their fellow congregants should consider fasting and doing penance.

This would be salutary if there was a similar call to fast and do penance after the Republican victory in the House of Representatives. Instead, these Christians insinuate that the Republican victory in the House was a good thing and the election of Mitt Romney over Obama would have been even better.

This perverted mentality is the result of paying little or no attention to what the Bible calls the root of all evil: the love of that all-American idol, money, and the criminal politics which that idolatry engenders.

Republican fondness for making the world safe for usury, and dropping bombs on Muslim children and pregnant women in faraway lands, is not a cause for fasting and doing penance among the proud Pharisees so convinced of their righteousness that they choose between Democrat abortionists and idolatrous Republican war mongers, and make their preference known in subtle and not so subtle ways in conservative churches across the land.

As economist Paul Krugman points out, this month many Republicans in Congress are working hard to ensure that the defrauding of the American people by the Money Power will not be impeded by the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In the presence of this criminal politics, will there be any call for Christians to fast and do penance in reparation for the greed that reigns supreme in a Republican party which seeks to enhance the opportunities of buccaneer capitalists to defraud the poor, including expectant mothers who have not yet decided on an abortion?

Woe to those who make unjust laws,
to those who issue oppressive decrees,
to deprive the poor of their rights
and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people,
making widows their prey
and robbing the fatherless.
What will you do on the day of reckoning,
when disaster comes from afar?
To whom will you run for help?
Where will you leave your riches?
Nothing will remain but to cringe among the captives
or fall among the slain.

--Isaiah 10: 1-4
Friends of Fraud
By Paul Krugman
New York  Times • February 3, 2013
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/04/opinion/krugman-friends-of-fraud.html?_r=0

Like many advocates of financial reform, I was a bit disappointed in the bill that finally emerged. Dodd-Frank gave regulators the power to rein in many financial excesses; but it was and is less clear that future regulators will use that power. As history shows, the financial industry’s wealth and influence can all too easily turn those who are supposed to serve as watchdogs into lap dogs instead.

There was, however, one piece of the reform that was a shining example of how to do it right: the creation of a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a stand-alone agency with its own funding, charged with protecting consumers against financial fraud and abuse. And sure enough, Senate Republicans are going all out in an attempt to kill that bureau.

Why is consumer financial protection necessary? Because fraud and abuse happen.

Don’t say that educated and informed consumers can take care of themselves. For one thing, not all consumers are educated and informed. Edward Gramlich, the Federal Reserve official who warned in vain about the dangers of subprime, famously asked, “Why are the most risky loan products sold to the least sophisticated borrowers?” He went on, “The question answers itself — the least sophisticated borrowers are probably duped into taking these products.”

And even well-educated adults can have a hard time understanding the risks and payoffs associated with financial deals — a fact of which shady operators are all too aware. To take an area in which the bureau has already done excellent work, how many of us know what’s actually in our credit-card contracts?

Now, you might be tempted to say that while we need protection against financial fraud, there’s no need to create another bureaucracy. Why not leave it up to the regulators we already have? The answer is that existing regulatory agencies are basically concerned with bolstering the banks; as a practical, cultural matter they will always put consumer protection on the back burner — just as they did when they ignored Mr. Gramlich’s warnings about subprime.

So the consumer protection bureau serves a vital function. But as I said, Senate Republicans are trying to kill it.

How can they do that, when the reform is already law and Democrats hold a Senate majority? Here as elsewhere, they’re turning to extortion — threatening to filibuster the appointment of Richard Cordray, the bureau’s acting head, and thereby leave the bureau unable to function. Mr. Cordray, whose work has drawn praise even from the bankers, is clearly not the issue. Instead, it’s an open attempt to use raw obstructionism to overturn the law.

What Republicans are demanding, basically, is that the protection bureau lose its independence. They want its actions subjected to a veto by other, bank-centered financial regulators, ensuring that consumers will once again be neglected, and they also want to take away its guaranteed funding, opening it to interest-group pressure. These changes would make the agency more or less worthless — but that, of course, is the point.

How can the G.O.P. be so determined to make America safe for financial fraud, with the 2008 crisis still so fresh in our memory? In part it’s because Republicans are deep in denial about what actually happened to our financial system and economy. On the right, it’s now complete orthodoxy that do-gooder liberals, especially former Representative Barney Frank, somehow caused the financial disaster by forcing helpless bankers to lend to Those People.

In reality, this is a nonsense story that has been extensively refuted; I’ve always been struck in particular by the notion that a Congressional Democrat, holding office at a time when Republicans ruled the House with an iron fist, somehow had the mystical power to distort our whole banking system. But it’s a story conservatives much prefer to the awkward reality that their faith in the perfection of free markets was proved false.

And as always, you should follow the money. Historically, the financial sector has given a lot of money to both parties, with only a modest Republican lean. In the last election, however, it went all in for Republicans, giving them more than twice as much as it gave to Democrats (and favoring Mitt Romney over the president almost three to one). All this money wasn’t enough to buy an election — but it was, arguably, enough to buy a major political party.

Right now, all the media focus is on the obvious hot issues — immigration, guns, the sequester, and so on. But let’s try not to let this one fall through the cracks: just four years after runaway bankers brought the world economy to its knees, Senate Republicans are using every means at their disposal, violating all the usual norms of politics in the process, in an attempt to give the bankers a chance to do it all over again.

How parasitic thieves gain wealth and power through usury

Here is but one instance of the usury by which immense wealth ($654 million) is gained by parasitic thieves who manipulate the economy for their benefit. These shylocks do not farm, manufacture or produce anything, yet they reap immense profits. Through the power and respectability their money exerts, they control our world.

YouTube: Michael Hoffman Talks About Usury

BANNED BY YOUTUBE AND REMOVED AUGUST 26, 2019
Historian Michael Hoffman gives a talk in a private home concerning the thesis of his new book, Usury in Christendom: The Mortal Sin that Was and Now is Not

This video is 34 minutes and covers some of the main points that Hoffman is most passionate about, including his belief that we will not begin to restore God’s Church or heal western society of its many ills, until we begin to obey the law of God in the crucial matter of the mortal sin of charging interest on debt.

Currently the world is ruled by the Money Power -- by our love of money as that ungodly lust is made manifest by the demonic engine of compound interest -- money breeding money -- a depraved act of human perversity that leads to every other form of iniquity, criminal politics and crimes against nature.

Hoffman Talks About Usury

Our new book, Usury in Christendom: The Mortal Sin That Was and Now is Not, has been published and is in print. If you purchased a copy in advance of publication, your book is either in transit or may have already arrived. If your copy has not yet arrived, please be patient. Books to US residents ship by US Postal Service "Media Mail," which can be slow at this time of the year. Shipments to Canada and overseas are sent by air mail but are subject to the vicissitudes of a foreign nation's particular customs office. While supplies last (there is no guarantee of a second printing), Usury in Christendom may be purchased from our online store here, or from Amazon.com here. We are also offering a new DVD:

MICHAEL HOFFMAN TALKS ABOUT USURY (DVD)
The author of the book Usury in Christendom gives a passionate talk in a private home on interest on debt in light of Biblical doctrine and western history. Production values are not high on this DVD, but the content is! 34 minutes. $16.95 plus shipping. The DVD may be purchased online here.

It is too early to offer an assessment of how Usury in Christendom is being received. Preliminary reactions have ranged from hostility (including, from former friends and supporters, promises of economic retribution and revenge against the author), to appreciation. We have yet to receive enough feedback, however, to offer an accurate and representative spectrum of reaction. It would be a mistake to draw any conclusions at this stage.

We have not managed to raise the funds for an advertising budget for the book, but we did set aside a batch of review copies which are being mailed to a broad swath of newspaper, magazine and newsletter editors, economics professors, theologians, philosophers and anti-debt activists, in the hope that one or more of them will rescue Usury in Christendom from obscurity and publicize or review it; otherwise, until our circumstances change, we are wholly dependent on word-of-mouth and the publicity we ourselves generate in our Hoffman Wire column, at our website (www.revisionisthistory.org), on Twitter (@HoffmanMichaelA), in our blog (http://revisionistreview.blogspot.com) and to our mailing list, via the Post Office.

The book was written Soli Deo Gloria. In our straitened circumstances, my attitude toward its promotion is the same attitude I have taken toward the basic needs of my children when I was pressed for resources. I went to God in the knowledge that ultimately they were His children; asking, on that basis, would He please provide for them. He never failed to do so. It is my opinion (I grant that I may be deluded in this respect) that God wanted Usury in Christendom written, and while any mistakes in its pages are my responsibility alone, it is His book, and He will move those He needs to move to assist in its dissemination, according to His will.

The Money Power in the Middle East

Everywhere I turn I see the Money Power obstructing revival and restoration. We learned last week that Obama and Romney each spent the staggering sum of approximately one billion dollars in seeking the presidency. We find that even the heavens are being merchandized: a private corporation is endeavoring to offer flights to the moon, including a walk on its surface, for $750 million per passenger.

Our fellow Americans are slaving under an immense debt burden, both personal and national. The Republicans who are eager to cut the social safety net out from under the poor, sick and elderly, don't emphasize that a considerable portion of the Federal deficit is due to America's role as world policemen, with the military-industrial complex reaping the profits. One of our friends is a low-ranking, frontline grunt in the U.S. military. Men such as this man -- the proverbial cannon fodder -- are most certainly not enriching themselves from America's endless foreign wars, which are so lucrative to the upper echelon of the Cryptocracy, which has turned a blind eye toward the operations of the Nusra Front ("Jabhat al-Nusra”) of  Syrian rebels  — an arm of Al Qaeda in Iraq -- which has killed American troops. If this Nusra Front organization had been linked to Iran we would be hunting it with drones and sanctioning their sponsors. But Al Qaeda's Nusra Front in Syria is part of the ordained overthrow of the Assad government, as protected, funded and armed by the fabulously wealthy kingdoms of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. In the wake of this outrage, there are few if any saber-rattling howls of indignation from the Right wing members of Congress who are based in the Deep South.

The killers of American troops are seizing power in Syria, and this suits the Israeli network that seeks perpetual war by building up enemies which they then shape and secretly control at the highest levels (it was the Israelis who helped to found Hamas).

Only after these enemies are in power, Senators like Lindsay Graham and John McCain will call for a multi-billion dollar military crusade to dislodge them -- only after elements of Al Qaeda are part of the new ruling coalition in Syria. A similar scenario unfolded in Libya with the "Allies" helping to put Al Qaeda type elements in power and now screeching about the assault on our embassy and the death of our ambassador.

From whence comes this cowardice, treason and duplicity, and the apathy of our people in the face of it? There are many symptoms, yet only one root: the love of money, and the power that comes to those who control oil, the greatest material prize of our age, or the Money Power's core power plant: compound interest on debt.

Latest News: progress on the Usury book

USURY BOOK

I am continuing my work on my forthcoming book on the history of the rise of the Money Power in the West, "Usury in Christendom: The Mortal Sin that Was and Now is Not."

This book was due to be sent to the printer right about now. We could not do that however, because, thinking the book was finished and just needed a final proofreading, God afforded me the grace to stumble upon an extensive body of original material related to early usury practices in the city-state of Florence, and I could not pass it by and maintain my faith with God -- I do not consider myself in charge of my writing or publishing -- that will strike some as mystification or self-delusion. Critics are free to call it what they choose (Matthew 5:11). I soldier on, in the belief, mistaken or otherwise, that God wants this book written and He wants it done right. Consequently, I am in the midst of adding a substantial section on the roots of usury in Florence in the period after Dante and before the ascendance of the Medicis. This research is doubly important from the point of view of my thesis of the Talmudic-Kabbalistic penetration of the Roman Catholic Church by Renaissance neo-Platonists who used Florence as their base of operations. The banking operations of the Florentine Money Power preceded the "Christian" Kabbalism which, in later decades, Medici-sponsored Catholic intellectuals would successfully seed inside the Vatican.

In the past couple of weeks we have had to spend hundreds of dollars to purchase rare texts containing primary documentation on usury in Florence (it also flourished in Venice). Some of these have arrived, others are in transit. I am working night and day to incorporate this material as quickly as I can so that we can get a page count for the book and offer it in a pre-publication sale while it is at the printers. We need to raise funds soon. A pre-publication sale is the most reliable means by which we can pay the printing bill and hopefully pay off some of the deficits incurred while I was writing and researching the book. You will be notified when the book is offered at a discounted price ahead of its publication date. In the meantime, if anyone can help us at present we would be most grateful.

ANOTHER BATTLE WITH AMAZON.com

In between writing the book, we have been battling harassment from Amazon.com. Readers who have been with us since 2008 will recall the embargo Amazon placed for months on the sale of our large hardcover book, Judaism Discovered, after a rabbi submitted a complaint. Now we have been battling Amazon in two areas. Since June 20 Amazon has prevented us from adding book reviews to the Amazon web page that offers our 2011 book, Judaism's Strange Gods. We contacted them immediately in June and they have replied by giving us a number of responses, such as, that the reviews are blocked because of a "legacy issue" (?), a "technical issue," or alternately, claiming that the problem is fixed and we could re-submit the reviews, which we have done repeatedly since June 20, to no effect. Obviously, having favorable book reviews by third party reviewers on the Amazon web page for Judaism's Strange Gods would increase our sales. As it is, sales of Judaism's Strange Gods are fairly robust without the reviews and despite the fact that Amazon will not sell the book at a discount, as it does for hundreds of thousands of other volumes it markets below retail.

Amazon has also been interdicting this writer's reviews of other people's books. In June of 2011 we posted what is, I think it is reasonable to say, a fairly devastating critique of the book Genocide Denials and the Law -- a tome authored by some of the Cryptocracy's most highly placed judges, attorneys and other inquisitors, dedicated to jailing those who doubt the homicidal dimensions of the most sacred relic of the otherwise agnostic West, the "gas chambers." Genocide Denials and the Law is intended to serve as a template for lesser fry among legal beagles worldwide, to guide them in instituting their own repressive laws and jaundice toward those skeptics who dare to cast doubt on some aspect of the enormous corpus of allegations made against the German people grouped under the Orwellian Newspeak term "The Holocaust."

My June 2011 review of Genocide Denials and the Law was eventually taken down by Amazon. For quite a while I could not spare the time to address the issue, but on Sept. 2 I sent in the review of the book again. It was rejected on the basis that tipsters informed Amazon that I had used "excessive quotes" from the book to make my points, and "excessive quotes" were not permitted in a review. (Care to place a wager concerning the identity of these ever-vigilant tipsters?). Yesterday I submitted to Amazon another version of the review, with many of the quotes censored, as Amazon indicated. The review is now online here. (Readers who would like to read the entire, uncensored review as it first appeared in print can purchase a copy of Revisionist History newsletter no. 57 here [scroll to the issue titled “Criminalizing Doubt"). It is worthwhile to review books at Amazon, in so far as time permits. The potential audience is vast and one has the rare opportunity to directly challenge the buncombe of some of the grandest poobahs in the pantheon of political correctness; a forum afforded a revisionist gadfly nowhere else before so large a potential audience.

We're under constant attack from various quarters. The Amazon imbroglio is only one part of the adversary's offensive.

Questions for Michael Hoffman on Politics

Questions for Michael Hoffman on Politics and Ron Paul

Question: Define what politics means to you - waking people up, or what?

Hoffman: No, politics is not mainly about education or awakening, which is a different process. Politics consists in motivating people to act on what they already know is wrong. If you are an effective politician you are able to rouse people into action; that's politics. It comes down to courage vs. cowadice. Do we have the courage to act, or do we just continue to spectate and talk? There is nothing more contemptible than using the aibi that it is "too late," as an excuse for one's cowardice.

Question: So, are you an educator or a politican?

Hoffman: An educator awakens people and a politician organizes them once they are awake. It is two different roles, often confused. Hundreds of thousands of people in America are awake but they are not organized. As for me, I will do either, educate or organize. There is so much fear and timidity that it is difficult to organize, however. I research, write and teach for the present.

Question: Why the fear and lack of organization?

Hoffman: Because agents of paralysis have told the people that it is too late.

Question: Who are these agents?

Hoffman: Isn't the answer to that obvious?

Question: What is your opinion of Ron Paul?

Hoffman: He's wonderful on foreign policy and issues of war and peace. He's abysmal on capitalism and the economy because even though he wants to abolish the Federal Reserve he would enable usury. His campaign is over now. It seems he's endorsing war-Zionist Romney; a tawdry spectacle.

Question: Was the Ron Paul campaign what you would call politics?

Hoffman: Yes. Certainly Rep. Paul organized people, the question is, to what end? To lead them off a cliff with Romney and the two party system? Paul had millions of followers. I'm not talking about most of them when I refer to the hundreds of thousands of people who are awake. The ones I'm referring to are alert to pure evil. Mr. Paul's followers are awake to symptoms of the evil. There is a huge difference.

Ron Paul himself is surely a decent person, just utterly ignorant (or dismissive) of the Biblical doctrine on money. One wonders if he is aware of the Antichrist statements of his guru Ludwig von Mises?

Ron’s son, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), is to a certain extent a defender of the Constitution, but just as lost when it comes to the issue of usury as his father.

Question: Why is the usurious capitalist system "pure evil"?

Hoffman: This is not a difficult question. It is staring us in the face and if you know your Bible it jumps off the page at you: the love of money is the root of evil. Ron Paul's people mostly don't know that. They want to enable the love of money

I am not advocating socialism or Marxism. One can have a free enterprise system without usurious capital. Such a system would bankrupt the hedge fund managers and George Soros billionaires. Influence would return to inventors, manufacturers, builders, farmers and workers.

The problem with the hundreds of thousands who do know that greed is the issue, is that they have been targeted and persuaded by the agents of paralysis into thinking “It's too late — go and hide with your guns and ammo, stored food and water, and gold and silver hoard.” Hence, the battle is lost without a true movement for restoration arising.

It is through hiding in despair that the gulag is made to function and the police state will hunt us down. Those who know what's wrong should be, as a matter of survival, engaging in politics; organizing, not hiding.

Preserving the Memory and the Teaching of Ezra Pound

Ezra Pound

by Michael Hoffman | Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

"Bank-paper must be suppressed, and the circulating medium must be restored to the nation to whom it belongs." (Thomas Jefferson to John Wayles Eppes, Monticello, June 24, 1813).

"I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale." (Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor, Monticello, May 28, 1816).

“Neither he (Benito Mussolini) nor T.J. (Thomas Jefferson) was interested in, nor bamboozled by money.” (Ezra Pound, Jefferson and/or Mussolini, p. 64).

This Saturday, Oct. 30 will mark the 125th annniversary of the birth of poet/philosopher Ezra Pound in the frontier town of Hailey, in what was then the “Idaho territory” of the United States.

To honor his memory and perpetuate his campaign for justice in economics and against the authority of money in government and society, Independent History and Research is reprinting his classic text, Jefferson and/or Mussolini, which has been out of print for forty years.

Pound’s union of Jefferson, the small government populist, with Mussolini the Fascist, will certainly strike the reader as the oddest of conjunctions. Prof. Alec Marsh decodes the paradox:

“...Pound's critique of capitalism...is purely Populist, certainly not Fascist. Pound was against militarism...and had little interest in youth cults, mass spectacles or mystic Italian nationalism, which he seems to have accepted simply as the Italian way of doing things. What fundamentally interested Pound in Italian Fascism was the possibility it offered for what Emilio Gentile has called 'the conquest of modernity.' That is, Pound admired the attempt by Mussolini to overcome and control the impersonal economic forces unleashed by modernization. Volitionist economics is an attempt to formulate a practical program for those who have the will to master the forces of modernity — a will that Mussolini had in abundance....It seems clear that the man, not the party, interests Pound. And Pound is interested because he thinks that Mussolini might enact the economic reforms necessary to restore social justice...” (Money and Modernity: Pound, Williams, and the Spirit of Jefferson).

If one knows anything of the history of western civilization’s struggle against usury, from the ancient Greeks to the medieval Catholics, from William Shakespeare to C.H. Douglas, a glaring contradiction will be found not in a conjunction of an American and an Italian revolutionary, but in the appropriation of Jefferson by Glenn Beck, the Fox TV disciple of the greed-is-good Khazar-capitalist, Ayn Rand.

Beck has plenty of friends in Pound’s native state. In Idaho we have a tabloid called the Capitalist Papers which is where the Tea Party and well-intentioned patriots like Phil Hart advertise and are afforded a forum.

Raul Labrador, Idaho’s “conservative” Republican candidate for Congress, is a shill for the corporate transfer of America’s wealth to China. His campaign is against “Obamacare” and government spending (except for spending on the national police state and overseas neocon empire). Nancy Pelosi is his cuss word; Ben Bernanke gets a pass.

Jefferson and/or Mussolini is not a book we intend to distribute to Idaho ignoramuses and expect that they will have a “Eurkea!” moment after reading it. It’s not a book for the completely ignorant. Pound was old school. He dealt in what the Scholastics called “First principles.” His thought patterns and arguments are lush with profundity, paradox and poetry.

Pound was not a snob, however. Like Jefferson, he was a man of the people despite an I.Q. that was off the charts. He cared intensely for the welfare of the poor and the workers. He was big on common sense and intuition and he would cherish a vision of an Idaho mountaineer in 2010 trying to parse his prose by a wood-fired stove.

We’re not promoting Jefferson and/or Mussolini as one of those supposed “blockbuster eye-opener books!” which is guaranteed to generate instant enlightenment in the reader. Since when is education anything other than a lifetime project?

Pound’s book should be in the library of every person who aspires to be learned -- we do advance that thesis and trust that it is not hyperbole.

There is no substitute for true education. One can obtain the appearance of learning by sitting at the feet of Glenn Beck and his chalkboard. Image and appearance are what modern America is all about. Mountebanks like Beck invoke the America of the past as a front for their support for anti-American usury banking and Israeli hot and cold foreign wars; the latter now being waged against Iran, where sanctions are beginning to destabilize the economy of a nation rooted in opposition to usury, and which is a threat to no one except those who believe they have a license to murder Palestinian and Lebanese civilians.

From out of this nightmare arises the writer who gave us the Pisan Cantos, the intellectual who wrote the ABC of Reading, and the courageous campaigner for economic justice who penned Jefferson and/or Mussolini.

Reading Pound’s book is a journey into a great mind. We make no warranties concerning the degree to which it will “change your life” or “wake up your neighbors.” The extent to which this book can exalt your spirit and stimulate your mind depends on the extent of your own personal character and ennoblement.

Let’s face it, most of us are not spending our days making our way through the 100 Classic Books of Western Thought. Most of us spend our reading time on newspapers and the Internet. We haven’t read Aristotle or Augustine, Chaucer or Dickens, or if we did it was ages ago, in a stuffy classroom with a mediocre teacher, and from a motivation to pass a course rather than lift up our heart and mind.

Pound’s little volume fills a two-fold void. First, it starts us on our peregrination back to the tried and true paths and founts of our civilization which the Glenn Becks of our world have suppressed. Second, it serves as a sign of contradiction to the literati of America and Europe as they meet over the next days and weeks to celebrate the 125th birthday of a domesticated Ezra Pound, shorn of his lion’s mane. They want to forget that there was a reason he was locked up for twelve years by the U.S. government and it has to do, then as now, with the life-and-death struggle with the Money Power, the evil which underlies every other evil (Matthew 6:24; 1 Timothy 6:10).

Alas, in this economy, our own publishing enterprise is no longer what it once was, as buyers and donors drop by the wayside. Therefore, we are no longer able to order a thousand copies of a book at a time, with the resulting advantageous economy of scale that such quantity purchases afford. In our straitened circumstances, wherein we are fighting to stave off bankruptcy, we have engaged the services of the print-on-demand publishing trade. By this means we finance the printing of books based on the advance orders we receive from individual readers. If you choose to order, please allow up to four weeks for delivery. Overseas please allow up to five weeks (figuring an average of an extra week for air mail).
