July 17 -- Israel battered targets across Lebanon today. The latest Israeli bombings killed dozens of people in Lebanon and raised the death toll in six days of bombardment to more than 200, news agencies reportedThe vast majority of those reported killed were civilians, including 10 refugees who were fleeing southern Lebanon toward Beirut in two cars when they were hit by Israeli bombs while crossing a bridge.
The shelling of the south, and Israel’s policy of cutting off access roads and bridges to the southern tier of the country, is setting off a humanitarian crisis. Medicine, food, and other essential supplies have not reached many villages in days.
As of July 17, Reuters put the total death toll in Lebanon from Israeli attacks, at 204; with 190 of those being civilians.
