Bernard L. Madoff has run off with the store so to speak -- the store of cash that is, which Judaics from Steven Spielberg to Elie Wiesel had stashed with this agent of of the world's second oldest profession, whose patron is that hoary old rascal who Shakespeare dubbed Shylock and the am-haaretz on the Lower East Side call the goniff.
I hesitated writing this column because the acolytes of Wilhelm Marr are coming out of the woodwork pointing to the Judaic ethnicity of Madoff, as if there are not a legion of gentile crooks and con-men running amok in the stock market these days, fleecing peasantry and gentry from coast to coast. A crook is a crook, whether Catholic, Hindu or Talmudic, and in my view they should all be hanged with an equal length of rope.
Madoff's enormous heist (do my eyes deceive me when I grok the sum of $50 billion?!), interests this newshound precisely because it undercuts a stereotype of the Jew-haters: that Judaics are always the "smart money," evincing a fiduciary adhesion surpassing the strongest bonding agents in Das Kapital's marketplace: always robbing gentiles and profiting communally from the rip-off.
This sub-cellar stereotype is actually misdirection emanating from a resonance of rabbinic propaganda that has been covertly seeded in right wing ranks ever since Hitler chose the Protocols over Entdecktes Judenthum as his movement's signature reference work.
Contemporary professional anti-semites push a post-modern version of this disinformation when they maintain that Judaism, or its potent offshoots, Judaic culture and tribalism, always defraud gentiles while enriching Judaics. This is sheerest ignorance reflecting a sound-bite knowledge --of the little bit is dangerous variety -- of the posek's sacred Torah SheBeal Peh.
Contrary to the received opinion, Judaism is not good for Judaics. Any religion that inculcates cheating God is going to end up having its followers cheat each other. They may cheat the gentiles first, but sooner or later they'll give each other a haircut too, and not just on Lag B'omer.
Judaism runs the gamut from one-upmanship over God to the enslavement of married couples by the torturous and labyrinthine halachos of Niddah (laws on menstruation). S'iz shver tsu zayn a yid ("It's no fun being a Judaic" --my translation).

The goniff Bernie Madoff is not a renegade. To understand this paradox will require a paradigm-shift away from everything the agents of the rabbis have seeded in our ranks for hundreds of years. The words of truth are often paradoxical: those who would save Judaics from the Madoffs of the world must necessarily save them from Judaism itself.

Perhaps, we can say that Mr. Madoff exhibited the ultimate chutzpah by brazenly scamming his fellow Judaics while at the same time upholding his philanthropic mask. I wonder if any of our late night Judaic comics are cracking any self-deprecating jokes along this line.
It is interesting that the glaring question which the mainstream media seems to be studiously avoiding is where did the 50 billion (50 thousand million bucks!) go to. Perhaps, we can assume that whoever did get it (the Israeli Discount Bank being one prime suspect) will be a very strong force in leveraging protection for Bernie "out on chump change 10 million bond" Madoff.

Hedging is like gambling... not sure if $50 billion is the stake money or the nominal value of the funds before the collapse.
Guys like Madoff skim off the investments to offshore accounts when the know the game is up or the plan is heading south (hence the $10 mil in bail money).

Madoff's "con" was NOT a ponzi scheme. The guy was running a hedge fund and he lost everyone's money...the scheme to call it a ponzi con is designed to allow a criminal judge to declare that all the "investors" are entitled to have the taxpayers pay for their losses!
There's a ton of hedge funds that will be bankrupt soon and so Madoff decided to be the first one out so he could declare that he was running a ponzi scheme...he's not just a thief...he's a liar too. The biggest problem I see is possibility of distraction created by this Madoff scandal. Though $50 billion is a lot of money, but that pails in comparision to reported $3 trillion that Bernenke, Paulson and Co have siphoned off to who knows where. As Madoff's was a Ponzi scam, so is every bank's credit creation depending on Fractional Reserve Ratio. The banks never can give back all the depositors money because they do not have anywhere near that amount of money. They always pay a few depending on the deposits of many.
As every Ponzi scam reaches a mathematical limit with no more new customers to be defrauded, so are the banks particularly in the developed economies have reached their mathematical limits with almost zero population growth.
As the scam cannot be sustained anymore, the criminals are trying to destroy the scenes of their crimes. The secenes in these cases are the banks and other financial institutions. These are getting destroyed from within. So nobody responsible can be charged for this gigantic fraud.

The Jews fleeced by Madoff will be able to collect their losses from the U.S. government and Israel ends up with Madoff's $100 billion. Madoff rushes forward to publicly declare and plead guilty to fraud - how noble, and a clever way to claim compensation for the investors in this hedge fund gone sour.
They lost their 50b ante and now want to recoup what they can thru insurance and Congressional pressure. Bernie takes a small one for the tribe.

A friend of mine pointed out that 80 percent of the Jews who were bilked were notoriously liberal. This raised the suspicion that the right-wing Jew Madoff ("Made off") deliberately targeted lefties for the swindle. There is an intra-Jewish political thing here, not unlike the extremism that led to ultra-right orthodox assassinating Rabin in the mid-1990s, and offing a lot of Arabs at Al Aqsa mosque.
Why? There could conceivably be a tie-in with the forthcoming Knesset elections later this winter, at which bibi Netanyahu the ultra-right winger will be anointed as the war chieftain. Another: that the Madoff scam occurred, and is being high-profiled now in the news, to make the goy saps who lost trillions to the heavily judaic Wall Street, not to feel so bad and not to make the obvious linkage between this year's hugest-ever ripoff, and countless previous editions of the same M.O. which have occurred throughout jewish history, back to the Achaemenid Empire if not earlier. This is my take anyhow.

The poster above got it right with Hoffman's tendency to over use Yiddish and Hebrew terminology like he's baffling the Goy with bullsh*t. What's the point of using said terminology when the average layman can't understand it in the first place? To dazzle us with your brilliance? Later to ask for more "gifts" to keep up the "good" work, which is Jesus is the Messiah, Jews are their own worst enemy and anti-semitism is really victimizing them. Really good Hoffman.

As for "croc tears" and this writer being a "crypto," I'm not too impressed by vitriol that comes anonymously. If you're such a shtarker (sorry, you'll have to look that one up yourself), you ought to be able to sign your name.
It's all gas. There is no money. The masses, most of us really, believe in images and accounts and other stories. Nothing has been transferred, no actual real physical wealth has been lost. Just numbers and ink.
We have a distribution problem here folks; a production challenge but especially a distribution problem. Money is just an overlay to help us think about the world; it is not actually the world.
We have become slaves of our own tools. Think "matrix".

You point out in relation to some comments on it that the story going around that much of the money is now in Israel etc. are 'urban legends', which too is fair.
However, until we learn what happened to the money and how those who have been swindled etc. are treated, that urban legend will remain. The logic that by declaring the operation a fraud his clients can get quite a bit back is intriguing, to say the least, and we shall see how it unfolds. Given the predominance of Jewish activists in the legislative and judicial branches, not to mention regulatory agencies, I would not be surprised if indeed many of these individuals and charities end up getting quite a bit back.
Whether or not we will ever learn where much of the money ended up remains to be seen, but it is unlikely.
Hundreds of billions were transferred out of Lehman to Israeli banks the day before they went under - or perhaps that is another legend. But Madoff's close connections to the Israeli Discount Bank (name correct?) is a certain fact and I for one will not be surprised if later on much of this current 'urban legend' turns out to be basically correct.
Madoff's investors have lost it all. However the first in made a bunch. You know that many of their advisors let this continue because they thought Madoff had insider information. They all deserved this and our system worked...they were wiped out.

Michael- as a cleric, and one who (earlier in his life) worked as a 'shabbas goy' in a synagogue for over eight years, even I, finishing up a PhD, found this article to be slow going, and I KNOW a lot of these terms!
I think you were being overly harsh with Anon. 12:01p,m. One of the things I am learning in older age, is to 'speak five words in a known tongue, rather than ten thousand in an unknown tongue' as St. Paul said. Listening to a local radio station replaying Archbp. Fulton J. Sheen broadcasts, I now hear Thomistic philosophy and psychology of his era (mainly Freudian) delivered in a manner not of the theology classroom, but spoken to the 'masses;'and this at a time, when the 'masses' were at least the equivalent of a 12th-grade HS Senior! Nowadays, thanks to the 'PS Indoctrination' system, you have to aim for an eighth-grade vocabulary and syntax for the intelligent among us, and a 'yo, s'up' for the terminally deficient.
Therefore, when you wrote "I'm not going to dumb-down my writing for anyone's convenience," I can understand the desire to say succinctly that which needs to be said; but putting up a lexicon of 'Yid-speak' is at least a step in the right direction.

I don't think I am any surprise with the sum of 50 billion. It seems so paltry compare with those just recently being bandied around; 700 billions, 2 trillions, 8.5 trillions, and so on and so forth.
It is like zeroes are going out of style and the next level of riches that Forbes going to idolized will be who will be in the trillioaire clubs.

Michael, you are a crypto promoting the idea that Jews are also victims. Who do you think you are fooling? The money IS in ISRAEL and the Jewish "victims" will get their bail out while they didnt loose any shit on this. The only ones who are loosing their money and pensions, are the Gentiles.

The Talmud, for those of you who are uneducated (and that apparently means most of you), is merely a collection of sayings and rulings of rabbis of that period, both the opinions that WERE accepted and those that WERE NOT accepted. They are all in the Talmud. The Talmud may contain 10 opinions on the same thing. If one rabbi in the Talmud calls gentiles "beasts," that doesn't mean that it is binding on all Jews to call gentiles beasts, and that opinion is almost certainly contradicted elsewhere in the Talmud. For your information, the Talmud contains very lofty ethical precepts (Hillel, NOT Jesus, was the first to say "do not do unto others as you would not have others do unto you) in a particular portion called "Ethics of the Fathers."
Copies of the Talmud in translation are available in most public libraries, and most synagogues give classes in the Talmud. I welcome you all to take part in these resources. By the way, many of Jesus' parables are based on the sayings of Talmudic rabbis.

i would say i enjoyed the article and that some of the logic i found enlightning.
One thought is that with Madoff pleading guilty to fraud.....a madoff investor may get more of their money back then joe6 pack has lost in his 401k /stock market etc...unless of course they switched to CD's in 2007.
But i do consider your logic regarding gentiles to assume that jewish people are in the smart money camp pretty accurate and also convenient for many beliefs.... in addition.. working at a Predominantly Jewish country club in Palm Beach county i am clearly shown that most were not in the "smart money" ....
